Automatic Drains

Automatic Drains Can Save You Headaches in Cold Weather
By Richard Gilliland

Installing a lateral line irrigation system in areas where the temperature fluctuates between hot and cold can be very stressful. Worrying about whether you have blown out your irrigation lines properly or not, because you do not want your lines to freeze and burst is not fun. By installing automatic drains in your irrigation system, you can help to decrease some of that worry and stress. What exactly do automatic drains do?

When the irrigation system is turned off, the automatic drains drain the remaining water from the lines. This can help prevent freezing and damage when the temperature starts going down. The automatic drains have to be installed at the low points of the line at a 45-degree angle to ensure that the water is completely drained from the line. With no water in the irrigation lines, there is no danger of freezing and damaging the lines.

Granite has a medium to coarse texture, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. So, just choose the best color because it cannot easy change later.

How to Select Granite Color?
By R Govindan
Granite is one of he hardest stones available on the earth and is found across various countries and continents. Another value proposition held by granite is its color which adds on or matches to the standard of aesthetic elegance as desired by designers. It’s not a hidden fact that granite is the ultimate choice for kitchen counter tops, bathroom vanity counters and has also made its way into the floorings, fireplaces and many other such applications.

The most critical issue faced by most of the designers or individuals is the choice of granite color. As granite has a wide array of color options starting from the blacks, whites, browns, blues, greens and the variations thereof. With such subtle variations it increases a challenging task to freeze upon the right granite color and hue. It has been often seen that black and blue granite is much more in demand and so are its prices. Brown and beige on the contrary give you a lot of variety to work with the combinations in your kitchen. Dark counters for light color cabinets and light counters for darker color cabinets is an accepted norm. What would be the factors which one would need to bear in mind while choosing granite color for a kitchen counter top?

Rug Weaving

Posted by admin

Turkish carpet history, in the traditional households, women and girls take up carpet and kilim weaving as a hobby as well as a means of earning money. Even technological advances which promoted factory-made carpets could not hamper the production of rug weaving at cottage-industry level. Although synthetic dyes have been in use for the last 150 years, hand made carpets are still considered far superior to industrial carpeting call Rug Weaving.

Termites eating your home

Posted by admin

Termites are a group of social insects usually classified at the taxonomic rank of order Isoptera. Termites mostly feed on dead plant material, generally in the form of wood, leaf litter, soil, or animal dung, and about 10% of the estimated 4,000 species are economically significant as pests that can cause serious structural damage to buildings, crops or plantation forests and your wood structure home too.

The Problem With Termites
By Gary Ashton

A huge problem that is common for almost all homes is the fact that they are susceptible to termites. Termites are the bane of homes, these little bugs have the ability to reduce a home to sawdust in a remarkably short period of time. If you have never had a termite inspection it is something that you may want to look into. Now there are a few misconceptions about termites that should probably be looked at to better inform the home owner: they do not actually live in the wood parts of your home. Like another home nightmare, mold; they require a moist atmosphere in which to thrive. However wood equals food for termites and a home is like a all you can eat buffet.

Another thing that is a bit of a misconception about termites is that a concrete foundation is not a deterrent for these pests. It is truly amazing the minuscule size of an opening that these invaders need to get through something. It can be as tiny as 1/64th of an inch, so checking the foundation for cracks on a regular basis is a good idea. One thing that they do not like is exposure to negative environmental conditions and construct “tubes” that are used to get from one area to another. These tubes are an early indication that there are termites in your area. Once inside a home it is almost impossible to know for sure if they are there as damage is usually internal and does not show until the wood is damaged enough to change it’s outward appearance.

Soapstone Fireplace

Posted by admin

Soapstone is a metamorphic rock, a talc-schist. It is largely composed of the mineral talc and is rich in magnesium. It is produced by dynamothermal metamorphism and metasomatism, which occurs at the areas where tectonic plates are subducted, changing rocks by heat and pressure, with influx of fluids, but without melting. It has been a medium for carving for thousands of years.

The Soapstone Fireplace
By Wayne Hemrick

Soapstone is a type of “metamorphic” or “fire” rock that forms as a result of intense heat and pressure deep beneath the Earth’s crust over the course of millions of years. Given its fiery genesis, it seems appropriate that there should be such a thing as a soapstone fireplace.

Soapstone was a common construction material in early American homes; many a soapstone fireplace has been in use on a daily basis for two and even three centuries. Despite its relative softness, soapstone is a highly durable substance that is both heat and stain resistant.
