One fashion trend in interior design which is surfacing at the moment is decorating with stripes. This can be off-putting for some people but I personally am a massive fan of all things stripy and think that it is possible to create some really striking rooms with the clever use of stripes.
You need to plan a little though! Make sure whatever stripy element you are introducing to the room that first of all the direction of the stripes is intentional and will enhance the space. For example, to create an illusion of height try long, vertically striped curtains which will look dramatic and lead the eye upwards.
