People who live in regional areas are often casual about security of their homes or belongings. Doors are left unlocked and alarm systems are not installed. However, just as in urban locations, thieves target homes which are insecure. Home security systems should be installed in both city and regional areas.

- Country areas are more isolated
- Country homes are easily targeted because of loose security
- There are fewer police resources in country areas.
