4 Additions to Make Your Home a More Comfortable and Calming Place

When you spend your days working, going to school or running errands, you deserve a home that is calm and comfortable. If your home is currently messy or lacks a relaxing spot, it is time to make a change. Consider these four tips for enhancing the quietness and calmness of your house.

Backyard Pool

Add a Backyard Water Feature

Many people enjoy hearing the sound of moving water. Watching water flow from one area to another can be a calming visual experience, too. Consider having a team of landscaping professionals add a backyard water feature that you could enjoy from your patio, deck or back porch. Even a small water feature such as a fountain could provide you with a sense of calm on those stressful days. Be sure to have the water feature include a motor to circulate and filter the water. Constantly circulating water prevents the water from attracting mosquitoes. A filtration system keeps the water clean and free of algae. If you like fish, consider the installation of a koi pond with a waterfall.

Install a Hot Tub Spa

Install a hot tub spa and enjoy many relaxing hours. A hot tub spa provides warm, jetting water that helps to soothe tense and sore muscles. This could be just what you need after a day of doing yard work. If you have a job that is stressful, relaxing in the hot tub could help to calm your mind, too. Put the hot tub spa in a master bath for privacy. If you enjoy the outdoors, consider having it installed on your backyard deck or patio. This would allow you to enjoy watching the sunrise or sunset or looking up at the night sky while you relax in the tub. A four-season room would also be a good place to have a hot tub installed.

Put in a New Master Suite

If your home does not already have a master suite, consider building an addition to put one in. A master suite could have an expansive bathroom with a place for a soaking tub, hot tub spa or custom shower. The sleeping area could have plenty of space for a king-size bed, a comfortable chair and a nice bedside table for all of your nighttime essentials. Include a seating area where you could do yoga after getting up in the morning. A seating area could also include space to read before going to bed at night. For additional luxury, put in a gas fireplace or French doors that open to a balcony that could let in the fresh air and sunlight on warm, sunny days.

Build a Florida Room

Getting in touch with nature helps many people to feel calm. Work with an architect to build a four-season or Florida room onto your home. This type of a space lets in the sunlight all year long. These rooms typically feature three walls of windows, along with skylights or a conservatory-style of ceiling. You could use this space to have breakfast in or enjoy a glass of wine with your partner at the end of a busy day. This space is also ideal for growing succulents or herbs. Kick back with a great novel in your new sunny space. A Florida room can be heated and air conditioned so that it can be used all year long.

Making one or more of these changes to your home will provide you with an easy way to relax and rest. These changes are an investment in yourself and your house. Be sure to consult with landscaping, plumbing or construction professionals to ensure that your home upgrade project goes as smoothly as possible.
