4 Ways to Use Pantone Colors of the Year Around Your Home

Nobody really knows what the color of the year will be for it is a closely guarded secret by the color company Pantone. In the past, we’ve had Marsala from 2015, Tangerine Tango from 2012 and Sand Dollar from 2012. For 2016, change is in the air and with that comes the announcement of not just one pantone color of the year, but for the first time ever, two: Rose Quartz and Serenity. According to Leatrice Eisman, the executive director of the Pantone Color institute, they chose these two colors to “Demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

Pantone Color

Interior designers wait for this announcement the whole year and for 2016, you can follow the trend by using Rose Quartz and Serenity around one of your Tagaytay Luxury Homes. How? We’ve got a few ideas for you.

Bedroom

Thanks to the relaxing effect of these colors, you can paint your walls with either of the two for something a little more permanent. If you’ve always wanted a lamp, now’s your chance to purchase one— just make sure it’s either in Rose Quartz pink or serenity blue! For the bed itself, you can pain the headboard in Rose Quartz then have the bedspread a soothing Serenity.

Kitchen

With two colors so warm and inviting, there is no doubt you won’t have trouble introducing Rose Quartz and Serenity into your kitchen. If you’re looking for a new mixer, how about doing away with the plain white or grey and going for a Rose Quartz one? Years later, as you use this appliance, you’ll think back to 2016 as the year you made one of the best decisions of your life. Match it with a Rose Quartz refrigerator and a Serenity stove with a matching gas range.

If your kitchen has an island or bar, give your stools a makeover and paint ‘em with either of these two colors. Something homeowners do not realize they need is a kitchen splashback, which can make cleanups a lot easier. Pick yours in this year’s colors of the year to give your kitchen a little pop of color.

Living Room

Use curtains or a large rug as an accent. If you have a single colored sofa, grab your throw pillows and cover them in Rose Quartz or Serenity. As for your coffee table, grab a vase in Serenity and fill it with flowers whose petals are those in Rose Quartz. Footstools are always useful and having them in either of the two colors is even better.

Dining

You might be thinking we’ll be talking about coloring your food with these two colors (hey, that isn’t a bad idea! Use edible, fresh flowers in these colors for your salads and desserts), but what we’ll be talking about how you can use them in and around your table. Let’s start with the table setting, where you can use Serenity for your placemat with a white dinner plate and a Rose Quartz salad plate on top. Complement it with golden utensils. If you have a long table, a great idea would be to use a table runner in the middle. Another subtle way to use these colors is with a serenity tablecloth and a rose quartz glasses.

With such soft colors, it won’t be hard to match mix and match this year’s pantone colors of the year with other shades. Examples are silver grey, lavender and vetiver. What are you waiting for? Color your world Serenity and Rose Quartz!
