I first saw one of these mirrors in a hotel in America and basically in order to stop the steam from the shower or bath steaming up the mirror the unit is fitted with a heat pad behind the glass which makes the surface warm. Physics was never my best subject at school but believe me, it works – no more wiping away steam in order to put your contact lenses in, hoorah! Wire the mirror in with the light fitting and it comes on automatically whenever you turn on the bathroom light, and there is less danger of leaving it on by accident either. Genius, everyone should have one!
