Is appliance safety a priority in your Nice Home?
Appliance safety is a major issue around the home, particularly if your family has small children.

It’s impossible to completely childproof a home, and even if you could remove every potential source of danger it would make life impractical for the adults in the home.
But you should be aware that, even though manufacturers go to great lengths to try and make their products as safe as possible, home appliances remain dangerous if misused by children.
For one thing, while you’re cooking, your oven is going to get very hot. And if you have an oven with a single glass panel, your child can get burned if they accidentally touch the glass. So from that perspective, spending a few extra dollars investing in a model with double glass doors is sensible.
It’s also surprising how many people have freestanding fridge freezers, without realising the dangers.
It’s an undeniable fact that children love to climb. To an adventurous youngster, an open fridge freezer may be something to be tackled, using baskets or trays as rungs on the “ladder”.
So it’s clearly essential to have your fridge freezer secured to the wall to prevent it moving or even toppling.
Also, imagine the effect a tub of ice cream, falling four feet from the top shelf of your fridge freezer, could have if it hit your toddler on the head. There are child safety locks available cheaply that prevent such doors from being opened by toddlers.
Though it might take a couple of seconds for an adult to get around the childproof lock on the doors of refrigerators or fridge freezers, forward thinking could potentially save a life.
If you are defrosting your appliance or have it empty for any other reason, suddenly it becomes a perfect hide and seek location as far as a child is concerned and that could spell disaster.
It’s not just the larger appliances that are potentially hazardous, either. Vacuum cleaners, left lying around, represent tripping hazards if you don’t safely stow the lead. And if left plugged in, your child could seriously hurt themselves if they switch the vacuum cleaner on then put the nozzle to their face.
