What Is Split Air Conditioning System?

  • A split system air conditioning has two main and important parts- the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. The outdoor unit is nothing but the extinguisher. It consists of a large fan which helps in blowing out the hot air present in our rooms. This is installed on or near the wall outside of the room. This is to make sure that hot air escapes out from your outdoor unit.
  • The second main part is the indoor unit. It consists of cooling coil, a long blower and an air filter. This indoor unit is connected with the outdoor unit by a long pipe. The main objective of the indoor unit is to convert the hot air into cool and fresh air. It also helps in regulating the room temperature.

Working Process of Split Air Conditioner:

When we switch on the air conditioning unit, its first work is to suck out all the hot air present in the room. It sends all the hot air to the extinguisher which eliminates the hot air from the room. The heat present in the hot air is absorbed by the indoor unit and this heat energy is transferred to the refrigerant present inside the coil. So, the heat energy is lost from the air and now it becomes cool air. So, the cool air comes out of the indoor unit. The heat energy of the refrigerant is transferred to the outdoor unit where the cycle begins again.

In this process, the heat absorbed by the refrigerant is moved outside your home while cooled air is blown inside. Even the moisture present in the air is condensed to water droplets and sent out of the pipe. Hence, the air which enters the room is moisture free and cool.

Benefits of Split Air Conditioning System

  • The split system air conditioning has many advantages over traditional air conditioners. This type of air conditioner performs a silent work. This is the most important benefit. The parts of an air conditioner which produce noise are the compressor and fan that cools the condenser.
  • In a split system air conditioning, the compressor and the fan for the condenser are located outside of the room. Hence the major sources of noise are removed. Another benefit of split system air conditioning is you can cool multiple rooms at the same time. You can maintain the temperature throughout a large room by using two indoor cooling units.
  • Split system air conditioning is an ideal solution for cooling multiple rooms at a low cost. It is an energy efficient cooling machine. This type of air conditioning systems also works under solar power, making a cost effective solution. The indoor component of split air conditioning system contains filters which can be easily removed and cleaned by the owner. This means split systems need low maintenance costs. They also help in intense air purification so that dust and allergens are not circulated throughout the room.
