Decorating your office is important particularly if you have clients that come onto the premises.  If you do have clients that visit you also need to keep on top of the office cleaning.  Make sure they do a thorough job of cleaning your office, including the security screens on the windows, dusting shelves and emptying out rubbish bins.  You need to keep a high standard within your office as first impressions do count.  How you decorate your office will also depend very much on what line of business you are in.

Colour
The colour your paint your walls will have a big influence on both staff and clients who visit.  You should also choose colours that suit the field that your business is in.  For example for a law firm or financial planner a more neutral monotone shade would be best, such as cream or beige.  Any colour should be kept to a feature wall, perhaps in the reception area, and maybe match your company colours.  You could go for brighter colours if you had a graphic design business or something else that involved being creative.  You could use colour to inspire staff.  Yellow is a cheerful colour, blues and purples are calming and red is linked to success.
